Thomas Lee Wyatt Obituary

Thomas Lee Wyatt, affectionately known as “Catman” to family and friends, age 80, peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Friday, October 5, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Born September 22, 1932 in Centre, AL, he was the eldest child born to the union of David Lee Wyatt Sr and Rosie Lee Kyle -Wyatt, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were siblings David Lee Jr, Horace, Calvin and Joyce Ann Wyatt, and Virginia Lee Wyatt –Worthy, and infant son Alan Wyatt. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953-54, and later settled in Baltimore, MD where he married, started a family, and lived until 1971 when he relocated to Toledo, OH to be closer to family. He later joined his brothers Calvin and Charles working for General Motors Corp, where he retired in 1995. Before his health declined, Tom enjoyed traveling back to Alabama to visit his now deceased beloved mother, and other family members. He even moved back to his hometown for two years after retirement. Thomas was a fun-loving outgoing person, and enjoyed being the life of the party wherever he went. He had a special way of making people laugh and smile. Tom was a great cook, and loved to go fishing with family and friends in his spare time. He joined the Body of Christ Church in the late 90’s, under the pastorate of former Pastor Peggy Moore. His daughter Tammy continued to bring him to church until his mobility became a greater challenge. He especially loved the song selections of the choir. Thomas leaves behind his children Barry (Anna) & Terry Wyatt of Toledo; Kenneth (Diane) Malone of Gadsden, AL; Tammy (Gary) Tisdale of Toledo, Bonita (Marty) Lee of Columbia, SC; and Darlene Basemore of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by siblings, Charles (Sylvia) Wyatt of Toledo, Eugene (Rita) Wyatt of Centre, AL, and Annie Pearl Kennon of Gadsden, AL; numerous grand and great-grandchildren, along with a host of other loving family and friends. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? St John 11:25-26 NIV
