Mother Katie B. Parker Obituary

Mother Katie B. Parker, 89, made her transition to heaven on Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born on November 9, 1922, in Guntown, MS, to parents Tony and Viola Robins. Mother Katie Parker accepted Christ when she was a child and served the Lord faithfully. She was married to Osby W.C. Parker for over 44 years at the time of his death in 1984. They relocated to Toledo, Ohio in 1947. From this union, 8 children were born and a total of 112 descendants survive them. She was a senior church mother at Guiding Light Tabernacle, where she served faithfully under the leadership of Bishop James L. Ransey. She worked for over 40 years, 27 with St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, retiring in 1984. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osby Parker, Sr. and her mother and father. She is the last of 11 siblings. She will forever be remembered by 5 sons and 3 daughters, Odell (Louise) Parker, Sr., Osby (Andrea) Parker, Jr.., Larry (Mildred) Parker, Sr., Kenneth (Corinthia) Parker, Sr., Theodore Parker (Arietta Dyer), Dorothy (Edward) Colbert, Alice (Richard) Bell, and Kim (Clifford) Hanserd; 30 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory, 3 brother-in-laws, 9 sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews and her church family. Special thanks to Alisa and As Needed Health Care Services. Visitation will be held at the House of Day Funeral Service, on Friday, July 6, from 4 - 6:00pm. Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 11:00am, preceded by a 10:00am Wake service at Guiding Light Tabernacle, 1632 North Cove Blvd.
