<p>James “Jimmy” Nikolaides died peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted family and his two cats at home on November 23, 2022, in Dedham. He has gone fishing and is looking to reel in a big catch. He is the husband of 48 years to Mary (McCarthy) and is the father of Melissa Nikolaides of Norwood, Kristina Nikolaides of Dedham and James Nikolaides and his wife Sarah of Norwood, and the Papou of Tripp Warsnip. Brother of Eula Niakaros of Needham. Jimmy was the son of the late Christos and Garyfalia Nikolaides. He also leaves behind his two fur babies, Norma-Jean and Evelyn. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Jimmy was born in Halandri, Greece, on July 3, 1945. He served in the Hellenic Army, obtaining the rank of Sergeant, serving as commander of a Greek M47 Patton tank. He immigrated to the United Sates on May 28, 1968, with his mother, father and sister and settled in Roslindale, MA. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>In 1970, Jimmy met his soon to be wife Mary and later married Mary in 1974. Jimmy and Mary settled in Dedham, MA where they raised their three children. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Red Sox. When Jimmy wasn’t watching the Red Sox, you could find him on a boat deep sea fishing. </p><p>The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Beth Israel/Lahey Oncology Department in Needham MA for their continuous care and kindness they exhibited throughout his illness. </p><p>A funeral service&nbsp;will be celebrated at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England 514 Parker St., Roxbury MA on Monday, November 28, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours at The Robert J. Lawler &amp; Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Sunday evening from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Wells Valley Cat Rescue, P.O. Box 567, New Milford, CT 06776. </p>
