He Attended Libbey High School, graduated from Rogers High School in (1971), and attended the University of Toledo.

His Father Charles Russell, Sr., instilled in him a strong work ethic from the early age of 12. His father him work in the family business, Russell’s Sohio, where he learned about commitment to excellence and always presenting himself as a top notch professional, no matter how big or small the task.

He was a 19 year Veteran Firefighter for the Toledo Fire Department (1st Driver) Station 19 and a 23 Year Veteran Electrician (Journeyman Inside Wireman) for Local 8 IEBW.

Charles, affectionately known as “Chuck” to Family Members, “Sir Charles” because of his Class and Professional Demeanor and “Saint Charles” because of his “Huge and Loving Heart” towards everybody he embraced and befriended. Charles was a true connoisseur of life and lived it with vigor, passion and unbridled conviction. Sometimes enjoying a Caribbean Cruise with his Lovely wife Jackie, Savoring a good Cuban Cigar with a friend or colleague, having a bountiful and scrumptious dinner at Mom and Dad’s where he would always say “every Sunday Felt like Thanksgiving”, Bowling with teammates, Tailgating and Attending Detroit Lions games with family and friends or spending “Quality Time” with family whom he loved unconditionally.

Charles loved “putting the pot on” for his fellow Firefighters’ ” as he referred to himself preparing a meal, always saying Grace and then serving them “The Feast”. One of Charles’ favorite sayings and enjoyable activities was “BREAKING BREAD” with those that he loved and cherished.

Charles was diligent, meticulous and a perfectionist in his every endeavor, it didn’t matter if it were a “Honeydo Assignment” a Wiring Job, Cleaning and Shining up the Fire Truck, Investing, Managing, Planning or enjoying family and friends; he always put his heart and soul into to it and always gave it his absolute best. One of his favorite sayings was shared with him by a friend and a colleague many years earlier by the name of LeBlanc and Charles embraced it as his own and used and adhered to it consistently. You would always hear Charles say, with a big smile on his face, as he imitated LeBlanc’s’ accent “We’re not here for a long time; we’re here for a good time, so let’s all have a GOOD TIME”. While many of us may feel that Charles wasn’t here long enough, please know and believe he had a Good Time and a Good Life!
