Artis Evans Obituary

Artis "Art" Evans, 74 of Toledo, departed this life on Monday, February 28, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born in Robinsonville, Mississippi in 1937 to the union of Champ Perkins father and Cornelius Swoop mother both of whom preceded him in death, as well as three sisters; Hope, Rebecca Holmes and Ruth Armour. At sixteen years of age, Art moved to Toledo, and after graduating from Libbey High School in 1956 he enjoyed many prosperous years as owner of several local businesses; Art's T.V., Art's Records, Gold Coast Villa Records (1 & 2) and Express T.V., as well. Art was a member of Cornerstone Church and among his special interest he enjoyed bowling, skating and ballroom dancing.


Artis will be missed significantly, and six loving children remain to cherish his memory; Pamela Gregory-Wilson, Mary Pitt (Orlando), Artis Jr., Lauren (Mary) Evans, Clifford Evans and Clarence Evans; 16 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and kind friends. His wish is to have no services.
