Zaneta Michelle Lampkin Obituary

Ms. Zaneta (Michelle) Lampkin passed away suddendly and transitioned from this life on Sunday, February 20, 2011.


She was born on October 19, 1973 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Rosie Lampkin and Lionel Watson. Michelle was baptized at Southern Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio under the pastorate of Rev. Robert P. Wormley at the age of 13 years old.


Zaneta, known to many as Michelle, received her diploma from Lucas County Public School System at Joseph Scott High School. She attended the University of Toledo and received her Associate Degree as a Social Service Technician in 1992. Michelle was also an Alumni of Lourdes College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2002, which focused on Individualized Studies with Concentration of Social Science.


Michelle had a zest for life! She embraced fashion and style; was very people oriented and flexible to change. Even during her illness, Michelle was dependable, outgoing, and she thrived on working and socializing with people.


This was quite evident during Michelle’s years of employment. Her first job was working for the Youth Employment at Grace Center followed by employment in 2006 at Wells Fargo. Other jobs included Enterprise Car Rental, and Dillard’s Department store and she also worked as a substitute teacher for TPS/Washington Local School System and Lucas County.


Michelle became a member at Grace & Peace Ministries in the spring of 2006. She had a warm and vibrant spirit and came to church with the expectancy to magnify the Lord! She loved the Lord and her church family so much that she invited many visitors and willingly transported them to and from church.


Michelle was very faithful to her church; she often attended Sunday School and Bible Study. She enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family and immersed herself in social activities, indoor and outdoor functions.


“The bottom line is,” as Michelle would say, she had a special love for Lady Cheryl and the women’s ministry, Chosen “God’s Leading Ladies,” and volunteer for assist with all activities. In the summer of 2009, Michelle shared many personal struggles and challenges with Lady Cheryl. Michelle’s had a firm determination to fight in spite of her illness which motivated Lady Cheryl and the other women to berth the following motto: “No Sister Left Behind.”


Michelle leaves to cherish her memory one son, Jevone Lampkin, mother, Rosie Lampkin, father, Lionel (Anita)Watson, Lansing, MI, ( 1) sister, Tammi Lampkin, Cleveland, Ohio, (1) brother, Antoine Lampkin, Toledo, OH, ( 3) stepsisters Jinita Watson, Jinel Watson, and Shameethea Watson, all of Lansing, MI, and a special friend Rick, and a host of loving family members and friends.


Michelle was preceded in death by sister, Karen Curry Lampkin of Toledo, Ohio.
