Ivory Mae Mayweather Obituary

Ivory Mae (Mudda) Mayweather was born December 24, 1931, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to John and Carrie Jackson. At the age of 78, on April 30th, the Angels came to get her to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family.

Ivory was employed at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI from 1950 to 1953. In 1953, Ivory and James were united in Holy Matrimony, eventually they made Toledo their home. Ivory became employed by St. Vincent Hospital as a Nursing Asst. in labor and delivery until 1970. She was already a devoted wife, then she became a loyal homemaker and a mother of four.

Ivory became a Christian at an early age and she was a selfless soldier of Christ to all. Everyone who knew her, knew she never had an unkind word for anyone. Ivory was quick to laugh and was always available to listen, and she had an uncanny way of supporting without promoting her own opinions. She had love and respect for her family and friends and she loved her westerns and crossword puzzles.

Ivory was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Jackson, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 4 nephews.

Ivory leaves behind her devoted husband of 57 years, James Mayweather; daughters, Patricia Bass and Arnita West; sons, Anthony Mayweather and Gary (Stephanie) Mayweather; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister-in-laws, family and friends.

Ivory was a gift and a blessing to all and she will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for all of their support, and medical attention that was given to our dearest wife and mother at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, I.C.U. and step down I.C.U.

Funeral services will be Thurs., May 6, at 12:00 noon, preceded by an 11:00am wake at Rhema Word Christian Fellowship Church, 2340 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd. Interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
