Diane Carol Carr Saint John, New Brunswick Obituary

Diane Carol Carr

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Diane Carol (Cox) Carr announce her peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 22, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Saint John on August 31, 1943, to the late Raymond and Caroline (Sinstead) Cox and was the loving wife to her late husband, John Gordon Carr.

Diane was born and raised in the North End of Saint John and referred to herself as a “true blue North Ender”, and never ventured far from home and liked to support her community’s businesses. She worked for many years as a waitress and cook at the Fairview Bowling Alley and made many acquaintances, connections, and life-long friends. She stepped away from formal work to stay home and raise her children and to get involved in her grandchildren’s lives. She found a passion for volunteering and giving back to her community by volunteering for over 16 years with the North End Food Bank, only leaving there because of her health. She was a strong woman who knew what she wanted. She loved to travel – going on shopping trips with her girls to Bangor, going to Florida a few times, and taking a cruise to the Bahamas once. She loved chatting with people when she was out and about, and she also truly loved getting together with her family on special occasions. She was a very family-oriented woman, who was involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives as much as she could be – attending every hockey game and cheerleading competition, near and far. She was a special lady who made everyone smile and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to meet her.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacey (Mohammad) Hamdan; 7 grandchildren; Brittany (James), T.J.
