Marie Elaine Dubach, 75, lifelong resident of Edwardsville and Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away unexpectedly at 9:24 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.


She was born February 27, 1947, in Alton, Illinois, a daughter of the late Wilfred Henry “Mike” and Lillian (Kessel) Bensa.


She retired from C.S.C. in St. Louis after many years of dedicated service as an administrative assistant.


Marie was a faithful member of Eden Church of Christ in Edwardsville where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was active in Bible study and Sunday school classes. She loved volunteering for others and enjoyed her years of helping at Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills. She enjoyed her days of working with the Girl Scouts and cheering on her kids in soccer and had a great love for animals. She was a 1965 graduate of Edwardsville High School and was very active with the class reunion committee throughout the years. In her younger years, she had attended the Bohm School of Dance in Edwardsville and was proud of herself for excelling in dance. Marie was an avid reader, excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting, was always on the go finding something to do or helping others and never met a stranger. The love and special times shared with her family and her beautiful smile and infectious laugh will always be remembered.


She is survived by five children, Dawn (Fletcher) Sarver of Salem, Diane (Don Brenner) Giebe of Collinsville, Debra (John) Pratte of Edwardsville, R. Matthew (Renee Stone) Dubach of Glen Carbon and Robert (Melanie) Dubach of Godfrey; a stepson, Steve (Janet) Giebe of Collinsville; son-in-law, David Sahuri of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Jordan (Stephanie) Sahuri, Logan (Rachel) Sahuri, Sydney Sahuri, Madison Pratte, Miranda Pratte, Carson Dubach, Maryssa Dubach, Kristin (Mike) Bettorf and Tara Giebe; great grandchildren, Jayden Bettorf, Hadley Bettorf, Tayler Bettorf and Skylar Sahuri; sister, Sharon (Mike) Flaugher of Glen Carbon; brother, Michael (Michele) Bensa of Holiday Shores; nieces and nephews, Tara (Jeremy) Reeves, Chris (Stephanie) Flaugher, Cole (Emily) Bensa and Brooke (Brady) Greear; great nieces and great nephews, Savannah, Alyssa, Luke, Mycah and Vance; her former husband and friend, Roger Dubach of Florissant, Missouri; her cherished dachshund, Oscar; other extended family and many friends.


In addition to her beloved parents, she was joined in Heaven by her first husband, Richard Giebe; grandparents; aunts; uncles; other friends and her beloved dog, Wiggles.


In celebration of her life, visitation will be Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, with Pastor John Roberts officiating.


Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to Hope Animal Rescues in Godfrey or to the Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills and may be accepted at the funeral home.
