<p>Lawrence Victor Rockel entered Heaven’s gate on Monday, November 21, 2022 at age 86. Son of the late Victor R. Rockel and Catherine Luzaich Rockel; Larry is survived by his soulmate Carol of 63 years. Loving father of Michael (Cheryl) Rockel and the late Vicki Rockel Martin, grandfather of Brittney Korte (Jim), Blakely Rockel Parrott (Troy), Tyler and Drew; brother to Karen Speros, Michael Rockel, Steven Rockel and the late Brian Rockel; uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend to many.</p><p><br></p><p>Larry graduated MMA in 1954 and Washington University in 1958 with a business degree and was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. He served as a Captain in the Army Reserve for 11 years. He was President of Rockel Sheet Metal for 35 years, was a member of the Gideons, Jr. Chamber of Commerce and Planning and Zoning for the city of Des Peres.</p><p><br></p><p>He loved handball, water volleyball, snow skiing, golf, coaching youth sports and Orange Beach vacations.</p><p><br></p><p>Larry was a gentle and loving man. Known as “Mr. Smiles,” he was happiest making people smile or laugh. He loved life and life loved him back.</p><p><br></p><p>Many thanks to the staff and caregivers at Aberdeen for their wonderful care.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial service Thursday, December 1, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital appreciated.</p><p><br></p>
