Charles Franklin Burton, 88, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009, after a short battle with
cancer. He was born January 13, 1920, to parents, Charles Sr. and Susan Burton in Metropolis, IL. Ted worked as a cement layer for 35 years before retiring. He was an active Union Steward for Teamsters Local 20. Ted accepted Christ in 1987 and was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by
Katie Lee Jones (Burton) and Aline Waterfield.
Surviving are his wife, Ida; daughters, Dora Lee Smith,
Charlotte (Robert) Lewis of
Ypsilanti, MI and Pearl (Samuel) Harris; sons, Ricky of Albany, GA, George Jerome, and Charles F. Burton Jr.; many step children; grandchildren; great-grand-children; nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later time. Arrangements
