Edward Mrshall Parker Obituary

PARKER Edward M. Sr. 1925 - 2008 Edward Marshall Parker Sr. passed away at the age of 83 after a heroic 15 year battle with multiple ailments. He was born on August 8, 1925, in Memphis, Tennessee. He relocated to the Toledo area in the 1940s where he met his beloved wife, Merle Gillespie. Edward was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and an employee of the US Postal Service. Known too many as Sweet Peter' and Running Bear,' Edward was well respected in Urban Toledo for his entrepreneurial and enterprising activities. He often went the extra mile to assist the "Have Nots"' and disenfranchised in our community. On September 19, 2006 he was honored by Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner for his participation in the development of the Kinship Navigator Program. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Merle B. Parker Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Parker; father, Roosevelt Sheldon; brothers, W.C. and M.C. Parker; sons, Roosevelt, Edward Jr., Perry, Charles and Keith Parker; daughters, Merle Jr., Marsha and Patricia Parker. Edward leaves to cherish his memory sons, Karl A. Parker Sr.; daughters, Sandra E. Bibbs, Sheila Johnson, Marita, Edone and Tiffany Parker; brother, Roosevelt; sister, Earline; 22 grandchildren led by Garland E. Parker and 26 great-grandchildren He has moved on to the next phase and will be missed by many! Funeral Services on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 1 p.m., Wake 12 p.m., at The House of Day Funeral Service Chapel, 2550 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio.
