Charles Rollin Malany

<p>Charles R. Malany, 96, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home, under the care of his family for the past eight months. </p><p><br></p><p>He was born in Detroit, Michigan and spent his first 18 years living in Alpena. After graduating from high school he served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. Charlie then graduated from Paul Smith's College, and went on to work for the Syracuse railroad as a brakeman, for nearly 40 years. </p><p><br></p><p>After retirement he became co-owner of Malany's Auto with his late wife, Mary. Together they ran the dealership for 12 years. In his youth, Charlie excelled at sailboat racing, figure skating, high jumping, and other track events. </p><p><br></p><p>Along with his parents and siblings, he is predeceased by his wife, Mary (Priola). Surviving are stepsons, Dan (Rhonda) and Stephen Pilbeam; nephew, David Gay of Albuquerque, N.M.; and brother in law, Paul Priola, of Syracuse. </p><p><br></p><p>Services were private.
