Willie Ann Ruffin

<p>Mrs. Willie Ann (Johnson) Ruffin was born on September 13, 1933 to the late Anthony and Rachel Johnson in Halsell, Alabama.</p><p><br></p><p> Early in life she confessed Christ at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She attended Maple Springs Training School and later married Obbie L. Ruffin. To this union, two sons were born William LaMarr Ruffin and Jackie Leon Ruffin, both of Plantation, Florida. She also had one adopted daughter, Rayna Nicole Dean.</p><p><br></p><p> Ann, as she was affectionately called, was a member of Solomon Temple Mother's Board, The Pastor's Aid Committee, as well as held the position of Secretary for the Women's Ministry. She also served as the President of the Fundraising Committee for the Birthday Rally as well as the Friends and Family Day.</p><p> Mrs. Willie Ann Ruffin relocated as an adult to Toledo, Ohio where she retired from the Chrysler Corporation. While there, she proudly served as a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 1435, where she held several offices including Trustee and served on the Election Committee. She was also an active member in the Community Action Program (CAP) of UA W, The Community Services Committee of UA W, the Toledo Edison Energy Conservation effort, a committed sponsor of the Parent Teachers League, and served as treasurer for the Choctaw County Club as well as several other civic organizations.</p><p><br></p><p> Mrs. Ruffin enjoyed being an active participant in the NAACP as well as the Perry Burroughs Democratic Women's Club.</p><p><br></p><p> She is survived by her husband, Obbie L. Ruffin; sons William L. Ruffin and Jackie L. Ruffin; daughter Rayna Dean; brother Robert Johnson (Gwen); sisters Classie Traylor, Lela Pope, and Ruthie Dean; sister-in-laws Nina and Josie Johnson, Mary Ruffin Dabbs; grandsons Jared and Colby Ruffin; and a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> Services are Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 11:00am preceded by wake services starting at 10:00am at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1501 S. Cove, Toledo, Ohio.</p>
