<p>Gertrude Martin Ellis, 92 of Fayetteville, received the promise of her Lord Jesus Christ entering her eternal life Wednesday, November 23, 2022.&nbsp; </p><p>Gertrude was born daughter to the late John James Martin and Martha Lola Williams Martin on January 18, 1930 in Andrews, SC. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she worked as a sewing machine operator in the textile industry. Known throughout her church community as Sister Ellis, Gertrude led a nursing home ministry for several years where she would play guitar, sing and preach the gospel to the residence and staff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Muriel&nbsp;William Ellis; her brothers, JD Martin, Jerome Martin, Harry Martin; and her sisters, Jeanette Hester and Mable Jackson. </p><p>She is survived by her sons, William Ellis (Janice), Glen Ellis, both of Fayetteville, NC and Stephen Ellis (Renee), of Easley, SC; her daughters Dottie Hodges (Richard), of Hope Mills, NC Brenda Slack (Clarence), of Winston-Salem, NC and Ginny Boeshore (Marlin) of Fayetteville, NC; her sisters Ruth Pritt, Annie Bell Watkins, both of Raleigh, NC; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members and friends. </p><p>The Family will receive friends 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Rivers of Living Water Church, 1764 Bingham Dr. Fayetteville, NC 28304. </p><p>Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM with Pastor Charles Daniels officiating. </p><p>Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery located at 780 S. Roberts Ave. in Lumberton, NC. </p>
