Mr. Burl Dean Bare, better known as Dean, age 85, of West Jefferson passed away Monday night, November 21, 2022 at Generations of Ashe.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 4:00pm at Obids Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Harless and Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm on Monday, November 28, 2022; one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County on November 26, 1936 to the late Weldon and Hazel Burgess Bare. He was the Vice-President of Carolina Business Machines. Dean was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his love to his family. He was be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Roten Bare; a sister, Marie Bare and a brother, Raymond Bare.

Mr. Bare is survived by: three daughters, Libby Cunningham (David), of Nashville, TN, Donna Wiles (Bryan), of Bluffton, SC and Anna Marie Kuether (Dave), of Bluffton, SC; a sister, Anna Bare Miller, of West Jefferson; a brother, Charles Bare, of Rutherfordton; five grandchildren Samuel Cunningham, Elizabeth Nicklas (Nick), Dr. Brittany Wiles, Heather Bagley (Jacob) and Samantha Benge; two great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Charlie Nicklas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
