Chlora Banford age 92 years of Eastend, Saskatchewan died on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.

Chlora was born at Shaunavon on August 15, 1930 to Park and Eunice Peterson. She took her early schooling at Avon country school south of Eastend, and graduated from Eastend High School. She then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, where she received her teaching certificate. Returning to the Eastend area she taught at country schools until she married Richard Banford in 1952. They began farming on her parent’s homestead. Here they raised their family, enjoyed country life and their neighbouring community. They moved off the farm into Eastend in 1982, continuing to help son David farm until they retired.

Chlora was an amazing farm wife. She drove grain trucks, cooked meals, grew a big garden, sewed all the girls dresses, and could fix almost anything. She loved knowledge and had an inquiring mind. She was an active member of the Clay Center Community Club, where she was involved in countless community activities.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard, sons-in-law Blaine Andrejcin and Bill Armstrong and twin granddaughters Lacey Thoring and Ashley Thoring.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Thoring (Raymond) of Frontier and grandchildren Jodie Doerksen (Ken), Lyndi Gryde (Kirk) and Jordan Thoring (Suzy); her daughter Nadine Armstrong of Ravenscrag and grandchildren Travis Armstrong (Dixie) and Nicole Poppy (Cory); and her son David; 20 great grandchildren; her sisters Eunice Cooke (Harold) of Eastend and Della Dornhofer of Rocklin, California; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held from Eastend United Church on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Minister Connie Sykes officiating. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery at Eastend. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
