<p>Vernell Sims (Buddy) was welcomed into this world on April 27, 1943, by his loving parents the late, Emanuel Sims, Sr. and the late, Gina Dasher Sims. He was born and raised in Charlton County, Georgia where he remained living until his passing.</p><p><br></p><p>Buddy was educated in the Charlton County Public School System. He enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and playing pool. He was a faithful member of the Pinkey Chapel Methodist Church until our Father called him home. Buddy loved his family and the Folkston community.</p><p><br></p><p>Vernell passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Sims, Sr. and Gina Dasher Sims, 1 son, James Anthony Sims, 1 sister, Louise Sims, 3 brothers, Felton Sims, Rocksell Sims, Sr and Emanuel Sims, Jr. and 1 daughter in law, Betina Sims.</p><p><br></p><p>He leaves to forever mourn, his loving wife of 47 years, Eva E. Sims of Folkston, GA, 1 daughter, Amanda (Joe) High of Centerville, GA; 5 sons, Bernell Sims, Sr., Reggie Sims, Stanley (Lisa) Sims of Folkston, GA, Tyrone (Thalassa) Edwards of San Antonio, TX and Frederick (Eva) Sims of Tampa, FL; 1 daughter in law, Brenda Sims of Folkston, GA; 2 sisters, Irene (Francisco) Colons of Miami, FL and Mary Ann Nelson of Nahunta, GA; mother-in-law, Mary Smith Gibbs of Folkston, GA; 4 brother in laws, Larry (Minerva) Smith, Sr. of Saint George, SC, Henry Lee (Artie) Smith Sr. of Folkston, GA, John Gilyard of Waycross, GA and Nathaniel (Athel) Austin Sr. of Kingsland, GA; 5 sister in laws, Cheryl Zow, Essie Sims, Betty Sims of Folkston, GA, Kutana Sanders of Houston, TX, Catherine Adams of Akins, SC and Doris Sims of Yulee, FL; 1 Aunt, Doretha Dasher of Folkston; 1 Goddaughter, Cammi McKinney of Orange Park, FL; 27 Grand Children, a host of Great Grand Children, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. </p><p><br></p><p>There will not be a visitation/wake.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 @ 2:00 pm at Pinkney Chapel United Methodist Church, Hwy 23, Folkston, Ga. 31537. Interment in Traders Hill Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Everyone planning to attend the service is asked to wear your masks and observe the social distancing guidelines set by the local health officials and the CDC.</p>
