Jose Dominguez passed away November 20th, 2022 at home in Hood River, Oregon.  Jose was born July 22, 1923 in Lagunillas, Mexico and was 99 years of age at the time of passing. 

A time of viewing will be held 9:00 A.M., Friday, November 25, 2022 at Anderson’s Tribute Center with his funeral mass to follow 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 25, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Butte Cemetery following his mass.

He first moved to the US in the 1940’s working for many orchardists in the Hood River Valley and The Dalles, Oregon. He finally settled in California where he raised his family and worked as an engineer for an aero-defense company until his retirement. He would often share stories of how he once made 50 cents an hour and how much it cost to go see a movie when he was young. He also told stories of how he was taught English and how to play the piano by one of the local orchardists in Parkdale. He enjoyed spending time with family, baseball, and boxing, even taking up boxing as a side-job to help provide for family at one point in his life. He enjoyed being a coach and mentor to kids playing baseball including his grandchildren for many years. He was married to his wife Maria until her passing in 1997. They had 2 children Salud and Eduardo. In 2004, he married Juana Dominguez in Hood River. After her passing in 2014, he remained in their home until his death. They shared many wonderful memories traveling, including dancing and gardening. He had an incredible life and had the most incredible stories. He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Maria, Daughter Salud, Son Eduardo, Grandson Bernie Dominguez, wife Juana, brothers, sisters, and many other family members.

Living are his grandchildren and daughter in law in California and many members of the extended Dominguez family in Hood River.
