Christopher D Nelsen

Christopher D. Nelsen, 69, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 19, 2016. He was born January 23, 1947 in San Francisco, son of the late Colonel Frederick and Harriet Nelsen. He married Susan Hendricks on August 9, 1969 in Santa Rosa, CA. He graduated from the University of California-Davis in 1968 and earned an MBA from the University of California-Berkeley in 1971. He was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Officer Training School and was honorably discharged as a captain in the Air Force Reserves in 1979. Chris worked in the marketing department for Hills Bros. Coffee and then as a marketing manager for Formost Dairy Division in San Francisco. In 1984 he was hired by Kimberly Clark, and after a brief transfer in 1992 to Spenco Medical Corporation, Waco, Texas, he retired from KC as the director of marketing-new products in 2004. Chris loved salt water fishing, car racing, boating, and watching sports. He enjoyed camping and time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Laura (Don) McDermott, Cottage Grove; son, Erik (Jennifer) Nelsen, Frisco, Texas; and three grandchildren: Cameron and Amelia McDermott, and Emily Nelsen. A celebration of Chris' life will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd., Neenah, with Pastor Danny Leavins officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 11:00AM-1:00PM. Full military honors will be presented by the Active Duty members of the U.S. Air Force and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honor Team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Conservation Association at joincca.org.
