William J. Potratz Obituary

Obituary William Joseph Potratz, age 58, was born on October 9, 1963, and entered his eternal home on November 27, 2021, as the result of complications from pneumonia. William was a special needs child of God with a gentle spirit. You are a truly blessed person if you had the pleasure of knowing him, and he will be dearly missed by all who did. William loved trains since he was a young boy and counting train cars as they passed by was one of his favorite pastimes. Listening to music was on the top of Williams list and he had a large ever-growing CD collection. He enjoyed many activities the nursing home offered, especially playing Bingo and winning tickets to shop in the bingo store. He loved all holidays which was evident by the decorations in his room, but Christmas was his best holiday, as it meant he would put up his Christmas tree and receive some cut-out cookies from his Mom. William was a Packers and Brewers fan and called his Mom after many games to discuss the outcome. Williams favorite color was red and when given a choice, red was always the winner! Other activities that brought William joy were playing solitaire on his computer, playing cards, and shopping in the variety store. Most days would not be complete in Williams world unless it included a nice afternoon napmaybe this is why he was such a happy person! William is survived by his Mom, Anna Potratz, whom he called every evening to see how her day went and what was on her mind. He is further survived by his siblings Michael Potratz, Robert Potratz, John (Margaret) Potratz, and Susan (Bruce) Schucknecht, and many friends he met along his lifes journey and those he met at Edenbrook Oshkosh where he had resided for several years. William was preceded in death by his Dad, James Potratz, whom he looked forward to seeing again in Heaven! He was further preceded in death by his Grandparents, Doug (Mary) Potratz and Hugo (Frances) Kellnhauser. The family would like to thank Edenbrook Oshkosh especially those who held a special place in their hearts for William and the activities team who gave him something to look forward to every week! A service and celebration of Williams life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Kessler Funeral Home & Cremation Service Facebook Page. The family requests that masks be required and social distancing practiced.
