Wagner, Richard John "Dick" Richard John Wagner,"Dick",83, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died on Saturday, October 1, 2011. He was born August 27, 1928, in Hettinger, North Dakota, son of John and Marie (Gengler) Wagner. He attended Bradford H.S. in Kenosha where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Lois Leineweber on October 2, 1948. They were married for 58 years until Lois' death in 2006. They were members of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Richard was employed by Wisconsin Electric and worked as a Lineman and later a supervisor in Milwaukee and Seymour, retiring in 1988 after 40 years. Richard was an outdoorsman. He fondly talked about the days he spent as a young cowboy in Wyoming. He was passionate about the Northwoods and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. His beaver pelts were highly prized at Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO where he and Lois visited yearly. They enjoyed taking their grandchildren on trips around the country in their travel trailer. Richard was both an artist and a skilled craftsman who built his home in Neenah where he and Lois lived for 40 years. Richard is survived by his children: Sandra (Paul) Gubbels, Appleton; Kurt (Linda) Wagner, Conover; 7 grandchildren: Jason (Jane) Gubbels, San Diego; Michael Gubbels, Madison; Richard (Adina) Gubbels, Neenah; Benjamin Gubbels, Appleton; Laurie (Tony) Rutkowski, Rhinelander; Becky (Ben) Rothering, Oregon, WI; Tracy (Brian) Zietlow, DeForest; and 8 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; his sister, Bonnie; and granddaughter, Julie Gubbels. A memorial service will be held in spring of 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartwood Homes or AseraCare Hospice. The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation for the love and care given to our Dad at Heartwood Homes, Appleton.
