Roger Harry Oehlke
Roger H. Oehlke, 66, of Mountain, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 17, 2016, after a long battle with diabetes. He was born on October 6, 1949, in Neenah, the son of Harry and Susan (Gaudette) Oehlke, and attended Neenah High School. Roger was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy and being honorably discharged in 1971. He was united in marriage to Janice Kreager on September 18, 1998. Roger retired from James River Corporation, Menasha. He enjoyed hunting and driving Ford Mustangs; both hobbies he proudly shared with his grandsons. Roger was a leader at the Boys' and Girls' Brigade and a member of the Rough Craftsmen at Camp Onaway. He will be remembered as a cantankerous curmudgeon of a man, who was loyal, loving, fun loving, and giving. Roger was very proud and protective of his family, especially his children and grandsons. No one was going to mess with his family. Roger wants all the Green Bay Packer fans to know . . . GO BEARS! Roger is survived by his wife: Jan; 2 children: Karen (John) Wendt and Chuck Oehlke; 2 grandson: Austin and Peyton Wendt; mother: Susan Oehlke; 2 siblings: Sandy (Glen) Allen, and Dan (Denise) Oehlke; a brother- and sister-in-law: Roger (Gloria) Kreager and Joyce Kreager-Koplitz; a goddaughter: Kate Uttecht; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service, full military honors will be presented by members of the American Legion Post #44, Wabeno and active duty members of the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Roger's name. Roger's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his doctors, Stephen Dernlan and Edward Szabo for their exceptional care, compassion, and respect. To His special friends, Al and Linda Heisler, Thank You, is not enough. 'We Love you and miss you, thank you for being a great husband, dad, and grandfather.'
