Hazel Beatrice Lenz

Hazel Beatrice Lenz, 87, Mississippi, formerly of Appleton, died Monday, February 29, 2016. She was born on April 21, 1928, in Tupelo, MS, the daughter of Everett and Anne (Morgan) Taylor. Hazel was united in marriage to Merlyn Otto Lenz on September 19, 1952, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2000. She was employed with Treasure Island and Zwicker Knitting Mills of Appleton for many years. In her free time, she loved to dance. Hazel and Merlyn will be remembered most for their shared love of dance; attending Adagio Dance Studio, Appleton, and the Neenah-Menasha ELKS for many dance competitions. Hazel was a charter member of Valley Baptist Church, Appleton, where she was a devout Christian for many years. Family was of prime importance to Hazel; she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hazel is survived by her daughter: Beverly (Lee) Vils, Appleton; 2 grandchildren: Rebecca (Juan) Padilla and James (Crystal) Short, both of Appleton; 7 great grandchildren: Drew, Travis, Nicholas, Alexis, Hailey, Marisa, and Emalee; 2 brothers: Calvin (Sharon) Taylor and Leman (Ann) Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 8 siblings: William (Maureen), Infant Anna Faye, Irven (Ruth), Olan (Becky) Taylor, Elvie Lee (J.V.) Hood, Morgan (Joann) Taylor, Infant Lily Mae Taylor, and Janice (Eugene) Wallace. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 7, 2016, at Valley Baptist Church, 3600 N. Chippewa St., Appleton, with Pastor Larry Creamer officiating. Interment will be Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Valley Baptist Church, Appleton. Hazel's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pastor Larry Creamer for his ministry to Hazel, and also to Calvin for his tender loving care of his sister.
