Carlton C. Steele

<p>Carlton C. Steele, age 88 of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 20, 2022.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born October 7, 1934 in Dover, Delaware, the son of the late Chalmers and Elizabeth Steele, both of Clayton, Delaware. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Arleen Steele, his wife and the love of his life of 30 years, his brother Chalmers Steele, Jr., sisters Dorris Cruson, Violet Lowman, Lavora Akin, Margaret Golt and Mary Oliphant, two sons Donald Steele and biological son Thomas Hurtt.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his brother Hope Steele of California, his sons Carl Steele (wife Julia) of Smyrna, Delaware and Richard Steele (wife Mary Ann) also of Smyrna, Delaware, daughters Marjorie Alling and Teresa Rhodes (husband Mark) both of Arizona, his grandchildren Wanda Neall of Clayton, Delaware, Linda Steele of Hartly, Delaware, Carl &amp; Eva Steele of Smyrna, Delaware, Monica &amp; Danny Holmes of Clayton, Delaware, also 11 more grandchildren, and four special great grandsons Richard &amp; Brian Parton, Marcus Figueroa and Alex Steele. He is also survived by 32 more great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>He loved his Country Music, loved his toy truck collections, working in his garden and watching the flowers grow, and traveling and observing the scenery, especially the fall colors. He was a diehard Jehovah’s Witness whom he loved to witness to others.</p><p><br></p><p>A viewing will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 12 PM to 1 PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM. Burial will follow in St. Peters Episcopal Cemetery in Smyrna. The family requests that everyone dress casual as Carlton was a casual guy.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

I remember weekends the family would gather at our house with good food made by my Mom, Sadie, and Daddy would love to play horseshoes with our Pop-pop Steele, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Those were the happier days growing up with Daddy.
