Patricia Hillius Obituary

Patricia “Jo” Hillius left this world on November 19, 2022 in her home with her loving

husband, Rob Hillius, by her side. Though she had ongoing medical conditions, her passing

was unexpected, and left a huge hole in the hearts of those who loved her.

Jo was born into a farming family in Kansas on October 15, 1955 to Blair and Ramona Adams.

She grew up with her brother, Ed, and her two sisters, Suzanne and Jan. The family moved to

the Seattle area when she was a teenager. Eventually she went to Western Washington

University where she studied accounting, which later became her career.

Her education took a backseat to family as she carried twin boys to term – no easy feat – Tom

and Andy. Her constant love supported the growth of two successful men who she was

profoundly proud of. To set an example for her boys and herself, she finished her degree at

the City University of Seattle in 2009.

Jo appreciated art, and was a great artist. She drew and painted, though she found a niche in

carving like her father Blair. She took this further by perfecting methods to stain and paint

wooden duck decoys to realism. She transferred her artistic qualities to interior decorating.

She had an eye for detail and knew how to make any house a home, welcoming all.

On Cinco de Mayo, 2005 (5/5/5) Jo married Rob Hillius, for whom she’d spend the rest of her

life with. The two enjoyed regular walks, traveling, bingeing shows, and spending time with

their family, grandchildren especially. Jo welcomed Rob’s daughters Sharna and Amber into

the family, and treasured being a grandma to Sharna’s children, Parker, Carter, and Everett.

Later in life, her passion shifted towards her children and grandchildren. Seeing “Gramma

Jo” was an exciting event. She spoiled her grandchildren. Each Christmas, she made custom

calendars of each of her grandchildren’s pictures over the previous year and would send them

to her family as presents. She truly cherished her family, and that translated through the love

and support she gave them.

Jo is survived by her husband Rob, her sons, Tom and Andy Woodham, and her two

grandchildren, Rowan and Mona Woodham. As the third of four children, Jo was sadly the

first to pass, and is also survived by her siblings Ed, Suzanne, and Jan.

At Jo’s request, there will not be a memorial service.
