Paula Taylor Weldon. June 14, 1952 – November 15, 2022. Paula Taylor Weldon entered the loving arms of her Christ on November 15, 2022. Paula was born in Decatur, Alabama and has lived in Mobile for over 45 years. Paula was predeceased by her parents, Stanley Paul Taylor and Lola Frances Taylor; and her parents-in-law, George Embrew Weldon and Kathleen Scott Weldon. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Scott Weldon and two children, Taylor Weldon, age 26, and Sadie Weldon, age 21.

Paula attended Austin High School in Decatur, Alabama, graduating in 1970 and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in home economics, from Samford University in Birmingham in 1973. After working as a social worker in Birmingham, she moved in Mobile in 1976. Paula worked as a para-legal at Hand Arendall and as a Human Resources Specialist at the University of South Alabama until 1993.

It was at the University in 1993 that Paula met her husband, Scott Weldon, and they were married on October 23, 1993. Paula then began her most important career as a homemaker. Paula and Scott joyfully welcomed Taylor into the family in 1996 and in 2001 the family was complete when Sadie arrived.

Paula was active in numerous church and civic organizations, including the Assistance League of Mobile, Habitat for Humanity (where she served on the board of directors), Society of St. Stephens at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, the Dauphin Way Church Council, and numerous others. She was an active member of Government Street Presbyterian Church, a church that she loved with all of her heart, for almost forty years, serving as a Deacon and Elder in the church. She was active in the Presbyterian Women of the church and served in numerous other ways and capacities.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of the Life of Paula Weldon will be held at Government Street Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at Government Street Presbyterian Church at12 noon. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall after the service, where the family will receive visitors.
