Jeannette V. Spada Obituary

Jeannette V. Spada, 74, of New Paltz, died Friday, November 18, 2022 at the North East Center for Rehabilitation.

Born in 1948 in the Bronx, she was the youngest of four daughters of the late Andrew Zele & Madeline Bizzoco Zele.

In her teenage and young adult years,

Jeannie spent a lot of her time at the beach with friends and family. On August 18th,1973 she married Charles Spada and later welcomed 2 sons. Jeannie was a jack of all trades fixing just about anything that needed fixing. She started out as a homemaker but wanted to contribute more to her family and pursued a career working for Fairchild Semiconductor as a secretary in Fishkill, NY. Looking to have more family time she worked to become a licensed Real Estate agent for Century 21 in Poughkeepsie, NY. This led her to a job as an apartment manager in Wappingers which allowed her to work but most important to her, take care of her family.

Everyone knew how much she loved to cook and bake. Her chocolate chip cookies and meatballs were a staple for family gatherings. Jeannie always cooked in abundance and made sure she always had enough for anyone who wanted to join. She also had a love for music both listening and playing, starting piano lessons when she was young and playing throughout her adult years. Her favorite song to play was “Moonlight Sonata” by Beethoven. Jeannie spent a lot of her time talking to her sons and grandchildren, cooking and baking, and playing games on her computer with friends. She loved to travel, especially with her beloved husband, Charlie. She loved to see new things and take pictures to show family back home after they traveled.

Jeannie was also involved with the Veterans of Plattekill with her husband Charlie, as well as The Social Club in the community where they live. She enjoyed being around her friends and going to lunches.

Jeannie was a Breast Cancer survivor of 37 years and every year was a milestone that she was grateful for. She often said that her sons were her greatest accomplishment in life, and her grandchildren were her greatest blessings. In any photo with her sons or grandkids, her smile was always there. She had a great sense of humor and would always make anyone laugh who was willing to listen to her witty comments.

Jeannie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Spada of New Paltz, two sons, Thomas Spada and his wife, Joanne of Pine Plains, NY, Robert Spada and his wife, Melanie of Summerville, SC, a sister, Frances O’Donnell of New Fairfield, CT. Six grandchildren, Joaquin, Angelina, Genevieve, Mason, Matthew, Christopher and many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Jeannette was predeceased by two sisters, Judy DePersis and Nancy Munson.

The family will receive friends at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Rd on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 1-4 PM, with a prayer service at 3:30.
