Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Obituary

Woodrow “Woody” Wilson, 91, of Dawsonville, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, GA. He was born in Dacula, GA to the late Walter William and Ezzie Beth Irene Wilson. Woody was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Dawsonville, GA, where is served as a Deacon for 37 plus years. He retired as a heavy equipment operator after 40 plus years. He loved being outdoors working in the yard. Woody enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.


He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wilson; daughters, Juanita Johnson, Peggy Figg; sisters, Lois Mauldin, Dorothy Cash, Mary Willard; brother, Alton Wilson, Jr.


He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley Wilson of Dawsonville, GA; daughter, Denise Wilson of Dawsonville, GA; son, Wesley Wilson of Dawsonville, GA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Debbie Wilson of Auburn, GA; sister, Kathleen Randell of Buford, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.


A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, Dawsonville, GA., with the Reverends Max Padgett and Gary Keown officiating.


In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, C/O Kenneth Mulkey 1843 Cowart Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
