Robbie Lynn Allen Obituary

Robbie Lynn Allen of Yantis, Texas passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, in Baylor Hospital in Dallas surrounded by his family. Robbie was born October 16, 1956, to Billy Gene “B.G.” Allen and Dixie Aline Allen. Robbie married Mary Ann Browning on November 22, 1982. Robbie welcomed his baby girl, Robbin Lynn Allen, into his arms on August 22, 1987.

Robbie retired from Peoples Telephone Cooperative on February 29, 2012, after spending 36 years working for Peoples. Robbie began his journey with Peoples October of 1976 as a construction worker. Upon completing his degree from Tyler Commercial College, Robbie joined the Accounting Department, promoted to Assistant Manager in 1982, and promoted to General Manager in 2001. Robbie had a long and active career serving in the telecommunications industry. He served numerous terms as president of Texas State Telephone Association as well as various boards to include Telecom Insurance, CSSA, FRS, Net America’s Board of Managers, and several other TSTCI’s committees, as well as other local boards and committees. During his 36-year journey he met many friends that became family. It was nothing unusual for Mary and Robbin to come home to his Peoples guys on the back porch ready for dinner with the fam.

Robbie retired to enjoy life on his farm and spend more time with his family. Recently when asked what his hobbies were he always said his grandson Hazen. He always put his family first and treated his two girls like queens. He always enjoyed fishing. He fished with his brothers, fished with his friends, and of course with his son-in-law and grandson. Robbie looked forward to Friday mornings and breakfast with his siblings. He would begin planning breakfast on Wednesday and normally wouldn’t return home until late Friday afternoon. His biggest treasure in life was his family.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Mary Browning Allen of Yantis, daughter Robbin Allen Poston and husband Garrett Brent Poston of Winnsboro and his grandson and best buddy Hazen Allen Poston, Brother Rodney Allen and wife Brenda of Yantis, Brother David Allen and wife Margie of Yantis, and Sister Melody Rose and husband Shane of Yantis.
