MATTAWAMKEAG/EAST MILLINOCKET– Vaughn Peters, 91, died November 7, 2022 at his home. He was born March 27, 1931 in Lee, Maine, the son of Harry and Isabelle (Hamm) Peters.

He graduated from Mattawamkeag High School in 1948.

Vaughn was a kind and generous person who enjoyed traveling, vacations and road trips with his family, and riding his motorcycle with friends. He worked for GNP as a Paper Room foreman retiring at the age of 55 in 1986. He then bought a skidder and worked his wood lot until he was 80. He lived his life fully and generously. Giving was second nature to him. He loved sharing joy and making others happy; which he did by sharing his time, his knowledge, his love of travel and adventure. He loved nature and found peace there. Everyone who knew him has a story of kindness and generosity.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah and her husband, Bill Klimas, of East Millinocket; daughter-in-law Barbara Peters of Woodville; his significant partner, Linda Cram; two sisters Donna and husband, Paul Heath, of Augusta, and Patricia and her husband, Leonard Albert of Cleveland, Tenn.; five grandchildren Karen Ann Peters, Allyson and her husband, Tom Coro, of Lincoln, Scott Peters of Augusta, Stephen Klimas and his partner, Josh, of Bangor, and Cheryl and her husband, Jay Lee, of East Millinocket. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Regina (Shaw) Peters, one son Richard Peters, two brothers Woodford “Woody” Peters and Maurice “Dick” Peters, and his sister Maxine Heath.
