Jerry Mack Powell Obituary

Mr. Jerry Mack Powell, 73, of Conover was born in Newton, to Nathan Powell and John Cauthen on February 1, 1949.


 He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on Easter of 1987, and was adopted into the Body of Christ. Jerry retired after 40 years from WestRock Conover. 


He was actively involved as a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Usher, Co-founder of Straight-Up Boys Club, John 3:16 leader and a member of Majestic Men's Club. He also continued to serve his country as a member of the National Association for Black Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America and Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans.


Jerry Mack Powell lives on in the hearts of his wife, Brenda; son, Jerry (Cordi) Powell; son, Terrence (Kimberly) Powell; daughter, Genita (Corwin) Rankin; son, Christopher (LaCratta) Powell; daughter, Shante (Eric) Sellers; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson; as well as a host of extended family and friends. 


His final wish would be fore everyone to have a relationship with Jesus Christ so that we may all be together again. 


The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 217 2nd Ave., N.E. in Conover. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 3115 Liberty Hill Church Rd., in Claremont, N.C. A graveside service will follow at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
