Mr. Sidney Theo "Gene" Lee

<p>Mr. Sidney Theo "Gene" Lee departed this life on November 14, 2022. He was born on January 13, 1949, in Leesville, VA to Eloise and Sidney Lee. Mr. Lee continued to grow and mature in the loving home of his father and caring stepmother, Mrs. Bertha (Houston) Lee.<br></p><p><br></p><p>He graduated high school from the Bluefield City Public School system. He received additional educational training in the trade of auto mechanics from the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center Trade School, Institute, West Virginia. While growing up in West Virginia he faithfully attended the local A.M.E church with his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Lee was very community and civically involved. He is well known for driving the church van at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church, Martinsville, VA, attending many city council meetings, running, jogging, and walking all around the city. He served as a faithful and active member of his church's Deacon Board, and their men's choir. He retired from Tultex knitting company with 20 plus years of service to the company</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Alexis C. Lee; his sister, Doris Porchea; his brother, Phillip "Sonny" Lee and his parents. He is survived by one child, Cynthia Lee of Martinsville, Virginia. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Raymond Porchea, of Maryland and a brother-in-law, Glenwood Allen, of Colorado.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Norris Funeral Services with Pastor Matthew Brown officiating.</p><p><br></p><p>He is remembered for his quite gentle spirit and his willingness to give a kind word or deed towards anyone that crossed his path.</p><p><br></p><p>Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville, VA is serving the Lee family.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>

My condolences to Mr Lee’s daughter Cynthia. I met Mr Lee and his wife Alexis years ago, and I was impressed by their community service. They cared so much and did so much for this area. I know Mr Lee will be greatly missed.
