<p>Daniel R. Sparling, 78, of Charleston, Illinois formerly of Dieterich, Illinois passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the chapel. Masonic Rites and Eastern Star Rites will be performed by the Mattoon Masonic Lodge #260 at 7:00 PM following the visitation. Burial will be in the Neoga Township Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be made to the family and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL&nbsp; 61920. </p><p>Daniel was born November 26, 1943 in Dieterich, Illinois the son of Ivan and Loraine (Deters) Sparling. He married Maxine Smith on May 28, 1990 in Charleston, Illinois and she survives. He is survived by his two sons, Rick Sparling and Jerry (Vicky) &nbsp;Brookins; two daughters, Leslie (Jay) Romack and Tammy (Brad) Tammen; ten grandchildren, Tevin Brookins, Adalida Tammen, Camden Tammen, Tamar Brookins, Kinsey Romack, Layla Tammen, Kyle Romack, Alena Sparling, Danny Sparling, and Rayna Sparling; two great-grandchildren, Finntan John Patterson and McKaylynn Grace Brookins; three brothers, Francis Sparling, Tommy (Carole) Sparling, and Mike (Linda) Sparling; four sisters, Kathy Brown, Mae Courtright, Dottie Jo (Ted) Peacock, Mary (Adam) Thull; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel “Beepers” Raymond Sparling; two brothers, John Killian Sparling, and Ivan Sparling; and two sisters, Vera Ballinger and Linda Ballinger. </p><p>Daniel was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Danville Scottish Rite, Springfield Ansar Shrine, the Mattoon Eastern Star Chapter #420, and the Mattoon Masonic Lodge #260. He was the Worthy Patron for the Mattoon, Ashmore, and Oakland lodges. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Mattoon, IL. </p><p>Daniel enjoyed life and would spend his days motorcycle riding and sitting outside watching the world. He had a knack for woodworking but most importantly spent his time with his family whom he cherished. He will be dearly missed. &nbsp; </p>
