Karson “Cowboy” Woodrow Catey of Grand Ledge, MI,

Passed away suddenly on November 13, 2022, at the age of 34. Karson was born on November 10, 1988 in Lansing, MI, son of Kirk and Elizabeth (Cantrell) Catey. He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School class of 2007 where he was an exceptional athlete who lettered in football and track. Karson was a 7th generation farmer raising the 8th! He earned the nickname cowboy at a young age and lived that legacy until the end. While working his family farm he also worked at Car Quest for over 12 years. He loved farming, football, hunting, fishing, and most of all, his princess Kennedy. Karson married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Angela (Hill) on January 25, 2014. They had one daughter, Kennedy, who was his pride and joy.


Karson is survived by his wife Angela; daughter Kennedy; parents Kirk and Elizabeth Catey; father and mother-in-law Don and Vicki Wenzlick; siblings: Kirtis (Ashley) Catey, Katlyn (Nicholas) Wiest, Kallie (Julia) McLane, Jacob (Julia) Gonzalez, and Brittney Gonzalez; nieces and nephews: Keegan, Kiera, Davic, Braxton, Hunter, DJ, JoLynn, Colton, Rylee, Peyton, Liam, and Lila; grandparents: Sam Catey, and William and Virginia Cantrell. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Carole Catey.


The following are honored to serve as honorary casket bearers are Kirk Catey, Kirtis Catey, Nic West, Jacob Gonzalez, Jacob Chasse, and James Lee.


A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Oneida Gospel Church, 3048 Strange Hwy, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Visitation will also take place on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel. The family has requested that those attending please wear cowboy hats, boots, camouflage, or Detroit Lions Gear in honor of Karson for both the visitation and memorial service.
