Rita Joyce Sampson

Ms. Rita Joyce Sampson of Lumberton was born on April 8, 1954 in Robeson County to the late Stacy & Iva Hunt and departed this life on November 13, 2022 at UNC Health Southeastern completing her journey of 68 years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Mark Anthony Lowery; two sisters and two brothers.

Ms. Sampson leaves to cherish her memories, two children: Thesley Thomas Sampson (Amy) of Lumberton and Stacy Eric Sampson (Sandra) of Lumberton; a special friend: Stacy Mack of McDonald; six siblings: Paula McLean of Maxton, Gloria Hunt of Rowland, Leonard Hunt of Rowland, Hal Hunt of Lumberton, Tim Hunt of Wingate, and Janice Fay Hunt of Rowland; her grandchildren: Thesley Edward Sampson, Larry Craig Sampson, Adrienne Britt, Timothy Britt, Coyray Dial, Brittany Dial, Clarissa Tena’ Locklear, Brittany Hammonds, Brianna Hammonds, Amber Jones, Tracy Jones, Edward Wright, Michael Wright, Janice Wright, Tia Lowery, Hart Locklear, Sienna Lowery, and Harley Locklear as well as a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Ms. Sampson enjoyed drawing, reading and gardening. She loved her family and friends and it was evident to all who knew her. We will miss her beyond words, but we will hold her memory in our hearts forever.
