George A. Betro

<p>George A. Betro, age 82 of Custer, passed away at Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point on November 9th, 2022 of congestive heart failure with loving family by his side.</p><p>Born February 11, 1940 at home in the township of Amherst, WI to Leo &amp; Sophie (Scheski) Betro. He attended Amherst schools and then worked for various cement/block companies for over 40 years retiring in 2002 at age 62.</p><p>He was married on October 8th, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Church in Custer to Louise Zwicki, recently celebrating 56 wonderful years of marriage.</p><p>George was known by all for his charming smile and friendly nature. He was a handyman and could fix and create many things. He was also a very hard-working man and very meticulous in many ways taking great pride in his large yard and garden.</p><p>His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved being outside, gardening, canning, playing cards, bird watching, cooking, grilling, going to the casino, eating out, and taking the dog on long walks. He also loved his Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks.</p><p>He is survived by his loving wife, Louise; 2 wonderful children, Pam of Stevens Point and Mark of Plover; along with his buddy, Munchkin his granddog. Also survived by brother, Adolph (Beverly) Betro and in-laws, Joan (Leroy) Feltz, Larry (Eunice) Zwicki, El (Michelle) Zwicki and special nephew, John Zwicki as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Leo &amp; Sophie Betro, and mother &amp; father-in-law, Felix &amp; Emily Zwicki.</p><p>A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at St Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Custer (7176 Esker Rd, Custer, WI 54423) with Rev. Mark Miller presiding. Visitation will precede at the church form 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow the service in the parish cemetery.</p><p>Family wishes to extend a big “thank you” to all the caregivers at Aspirus Hospital, especially nurse Hank &amp; Dr. Islam, for the wonderful care of George. Also, thank you to the relatives, friends &amp; neighbors who so graciously helped both my parents as my dad battled with health problems these last two years.</p><p><br></p>
