Merle F. Senft, age 91, of Jackson Township, passed away on November 7, 2022 at UPMC Memorial in York. He was the loving husband of Lorraine M. (Ziegler) Senft; together they shared 65 years of marriage.

Merle was born in N. Codorus Township on May 29, 1931 and was the son of the late John A. and Edith (Haar) Senft. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked at P.H. Glatfelter Co. in Spring Grove for 40 years prior to retiring in 1993. Merle was also a member of the Jefferson AARP #3699 and West York Church of the Brethren, and loved sports, especially Spring Grove athletics, and scrapbooking.

In addition to his loving wife Lorraine, Merle is survived by his children Randy E. Senft and wife Kathy, Peggy A. Dooley and husband Delmar, and Karen S. Poist and husband James, Jr.; his grandchildren Derek Robison and wife Cara, Alicia Eaton and husband Ryan, and Jared Poist; and his great-grandchildren Hailey Robison, Lorelai Eaton, and Adelaide Eaton. Merle was preceded in death by his brothers John Senft, Jr., Francis Senft, and Earl Senft; and his sisters Velva Rohrbaugh, Frieda Rinehart, and Janet Thieret.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Merle’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:00AM at West York Church of the Brethren, 5101 Darlington Rd., York, PA 17408 with Pastor Brian Markle officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at St. Peter’s (Lischey’s) Church Cemetery in Spring Grove. A viewing will be held from 10:00AM – 11:00AM on Wednesday at the church. Funeral services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove.
