Conley Johnson, Jr.

<p>Conley Johnson, Jr., age 86, of Louisville, KY, died peacefully at home</p><p>on the evening of November 5, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.</p><p>He was born on October 27, 1936, in Virgie, Kentucky, to Conley</p><p>Johnson and Fannie Childers Johnson, and was the youngest of nine</p><p>children. Conley spent his youth exploring the mountains of eastern</p><p>Kentucky. With his brothers, sisters, and boyhood friends, he spent</p><p>countless hours climbing the hills of Virgie hunting and getting into all</p><p>kinds of mischief. Conley attended Virgie High School, Pikeville</p><p>College, and then the University of Louisville.</p><p>On Valentine’s Day,1964, he married Bobbie Monroe, of Louisville, KY,</p><p>his wife of 49 years, who preceded him in death in 2013.</p><p>He spent his 35-year career working at General Electric - living in</p><p>Cincinnati, Chicago, and Louisville, ultimately serving as manager of</p><p>Customer Relations at Appliance Park. After retiring, he spent</p><p>countless hours supporting Bobbie and maintaining their daycare</p><p>center, Pre-school Prep, and volunteering at St John Center.</p><p>Conley was a family man at heart. He was a beloved husband and</p><p>father, an adored brother and uncle (Bubby Rat), a cherished friend,</p><p>and a devoted grandfather (Papaw). Storytelling came naturally to him</p><p>and his memory was unmatched. It was not unusual to find a circle of</p><p>family and friends around Conley, hanging on his every word. Conley</p><p>loved driving his dogs around town in his 1972 blue Jeep. He earned</p><p>the moniker - The Dog Man - from many who saw him driving in</p><p>Germantown.</p><p>Conley is survived by his two daughters, Constance Johnson (Robert</p><p>Bruns) and Kathy Johnson; his grandsons, Benjamin and Julian</p><p>Kuroiwa; and his dear friends the Pfannerstill-Schnepf family.</p><p>Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am, on Monday, November 14, at</p><p>St. Agnes Catholic Church. His funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. His</p><p>burial service will take place at Cave Hill Cemetery.</p><p>Expressions of sympathy in Conley’s name can be sent to St. John</p><p>Center and Shamrock Pet Foundation.</p>
