Obituary

G. Lorraine Howard, age 88, of Duluth, Georgia, left the cares of this world behind, as she was

reunited with her beloved husband, Carl, and joined a countless multitude of joyful Jesus

worshippers, as she commenced her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

A memorial service for Lorraine will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at

Trinity United Methodist Church, 1158 Old Peachtree Rd, Duluth, Georgia.

Lorraine was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and following high school, completed a four-

year RN program at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. While attending a dance for student

nurses, she met her future husband, Carl, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps.

They were separated by their studies and duty, and reunited after Carl returned to the United

States after being stationed in Japan and Korea. They were married in 1955 in Miami, then

moved to Durham, New Hampshire, where Carl attended the University of New Hampshire as a

business student, and Lorraine worked as a nurse in the student infirmary. Their son Stephen

was born there in 1957, and following Carl’s graduation in 1959, their daughter Brenda was born

in 1960.

Lorraine worked as a nurse for many years, in hospitals and for their family doctor in Carmel,

Indiana, where they raised their family. While living in Carmel, their son, Stephen, age 20, died

in an automobile accident.

Carl’s work eventually landed them in the Atlanta area, and ultimately, they lived in Duluth

longer than they did anywhere else. They were happy to call Trinity United Methodist Church

their church home, and were thankful to be living near their daughter’s family, who also lived in

Duluth. Carl passed in 2006, and their grandson Samuel in 2015.

Lorraine enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing bridge, traveling abroad, and cheering for

the Falcons and the Braves.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Scott) Ehly, and grandson, Benjamin Ehly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: The Compassionate Friends, 48660 Pontiac Trail,

#930808, Wixom, MI, 48393.
