Edward John Basar, II Obituary

Edward Jon Basar, II of Wolverine Lake was born October 25, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward John and Mary (nee: Ukrainec) Basar, Sr. He died November 7, 2022 at the age of 82.

Mr. Basar is the beloved husband of 29 years to Irene. Loving father of Steve (Brenda) Basar of Tennessee, Chris (Jessica) Basar of Tennessee, Jim ( Karen) Kosky, Jon (Charlene) Kosky and Frank (Kelly) Kosky. Grandfather of Samantha, Mitchell, Alexandra, Erika, Audrey, Sean, Canyon, Melissa, Jillian, Jesse (Lauren), Bridget (Shawn), Julia (Jake) and Grace (Ryan). Great grandfather of Henry and Josephine. Dear brother of Donald (Kay) Wragg, Joy (Bernard) Lucier, Keith (the late Victoria) Basar, the late Shirley (the late Don) Dunn and the late Jayne. Dear nephew of Marge Ukrainec and Don (Karen) Ukrainec. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Throughout his life, Ed devoted his time and talents to touch the lives of everyone he

encountered.

He received many awards and achievements for enriching the lives of others. Ed taught middle school and physical education for over 40 years in the Detroit Public Schools where he mentored countless young people and developed lifelong relationships with coworkers and families.

Ed was involved in scouting from an early age all the way to Eagle Scout. From a youth in the program to a founder and director of the Trail to Eagle Scout program for over 28 years, Ed worked with thousands of scouts, mentoring, encouraging, and building character. He was recognized with countless honors and awards from the scouting community throughout his

career of service and expertise in working with so many individuals.

What started as a neighbor’s request for some flowers to be planted at his house turned into the Looks Good Gardens & Landscapes business which could hardly be called “work” as he and his crew enjoyed beautifying countless homes and gardens for over 30 years, all while making

lasting friendships.

Ed’s love for going to the show, all things Disney, the Detroit Lions, Frank Sinatra and a glass of milk with every meal were his simple pleasures along with always making “Ed time” for friends and family. He truly enjoyed Sunday church services with the family in the back row and greeting those around him with a smile.

In Ed’s words….. “You gotta believe."

He is dearly loved and missed by so many.
