Deacon Charles "Pete" Betro Faler Jr.

<p>Deacon Charles "Pete" Betro Faler Jr., of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on November 4, 2022 surrounded by the love of his wife and daughters, at the age of 82. He was a native of Bassfield, Mississippi, born on October 24, 1940 to his loving parents, the late Carrie Cole Faler and Charles "Pete" Betro Faler Sr. Pete married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kathy” Kiniry Faler, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell, Louisiana 56 years ago. Together they had three children, Michelle Faler Barbry, Lisa Faler Galey (Jason), and the late David Cary Faler and six grandchildren, Morgan Faler Barbry, Cecilia Kathleen Barbry, Lillian Rose Barbry, Claire Marie Barbry, Kathleen Amanda Galey, and Jason Terrel Galey Jr. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, Marie Faler Peterson, Rita Denise Faler Windolf, Elizabeth Faler Cocran, Mary Virginia Faler Meazell, and Lavern Timothy Faler.</p><p><br></p><p>Pete graduated from Slidell High School with the Class of 1958 and attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where he majored in science. He was a banker for most of his life and for the last 12 years of his career, he was employed with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office as a tax auditor before retiring.</p><p><br></p><p>Pete served as Deacon at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for 30 years, where he was loved and respected by the parishioners. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and the community.</p><p><br></p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. Deacon Pete will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery at a later date.
