Jeffrey David Wagner, Sr., age 61; formerly a long-time resident of Downers Grove, IL, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2022 in Huntsville, AL.


Jeff was born to David G. and Elizabeth Wagner on October 30, 1961. He married Susan Laurene Moore on October 13, 1984. Jeff attended Moraine Valley College and DePaul University in Chicago.


Jeff held a number of positions at United Airlines throughout his 33-year career, most recently Manager of Technical Operations at O’Hare Airport.


Jeff, nicknamed “The Chief,” was at home on the water, whether he was swimming, scuba-diving, boating, or water-skiing. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family at his Michigan lake home and woodland sanctuary. An expert at problem-solving, Jeff’s selfless personality was expressed through the many projects he led with his family. Jeff also volunteered to support exhibitions at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.


Jeff is loved dearly by his wife, Susan, son Jeffrey Jr. and Heather (nee Zbasnik) Wagner, son Brent and Alexandra (née Schaller) Wagner, daughter Krystin and Dr. Yost Smith, brothers Jerold, David, Michael (Sheila) Wagner, and sister Amy (Joseph) Lackner, brother-in-law Jeffrey P. (Jennifer) Moore, parents David G. and Elizabeth J. Wagner, parents-in-law Arthur P. (Susan) Moore, and Carolyn Ruzella Moore; grandchildren Caroline, Samantha, Amelia, James, Beaumont, Baylen, Breona, and Bond, along with many nieces and nephews, and extended family.


Memorial Visitation Sunday, November 6th, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street (1 Blk. So. of Ogden Ave.), Downers Grove, Illinois 60515. Interment Private.
