Doris Jean Arena passed away at her home on October 21, 2022 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born on November 21, 1928 in Monroe, Louisiana to James Macon Taylor and Mary Ethel Noble, Doris was a fraternal twin with her sister Dorothy. Dorothy predeceased Doris earlier this year. They were the youngest and were predeceased by their two sisters and one brother: Lillian, Eloise, and Noble.

Doris married John Paul Arena on March 31, 1947. John was in the U.S. Navy, and they traveled the world together from Hawaii to Kwajalein, New Guinea. They have three children: Jenny Lynn Hall, William Paul Arena and John Giovanni Arena, who survive them.

Doris dedicated her life to raising her family. After the children were grown, she returned to college and obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She worked as a nurse in Alzheimer’s care until she retired in 2011.

Doris is survived by her three children, her grandchildren: Karen Johnson, Kelley Walters, Jake Arena, Ellie Arena, Brandy Arena, Alyssa Grace Arena, Ryan Arena and Alexander Arena, and her great grandchildren: Joshua, Lincoln, and Rowan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
