On November 2, 2022, at 4:33 a.m., God picked his precious flower Sherri Elizabeth Patterson to bloom in eternity in His beautiful heavenly garden. Sherri was born on Friday, June 12, 1959, to Richard J. Patterson Sr. and Ruth A. Patterson in Portsmouth, Virginia. Sherri was a June 1977 graduate of Manor High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. After graduating high school, she was employed with Printcraft Press Incorporated.

In 1999, after 22 years of service at Printcraft Press Incorporated, it was Sherri’s vision to own the business. She became the Chief Executive Officer/Owner of Printcraft Engraving of Portsmouth, LLC. Sherri believed in recruiting family and friends to fulfill large work orders and established a legacy of co-workers and friends throughout her 45-year career.

Sherri was known as the neighborhood hairdresser for many young girls. She loved to style their hair and created some unique hair-dos that were worn for many years. Sherri taught family and friends how to drive her 1971 Opel GT, and served as a chauffeur to football games, dances, and other activities. She had a deep love for her family and friends and showed that love daily. Sherri was very comfortable being in her bedroom and that was where everyone congregated when they entered the home! She enjoyed Frederick’s cooking and was his taste tester. Everyone knew Sherri loved chocolate candy; she made sure she had some to share, but also hid a great stash. Her favorite mug read “Chocolate Is ALWAYS The Answer” from which she had her daily morning and evening cup of coffee. Sherri was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, friend, hard worker and problem-solver. She loved a good laugh and never met a stranger. She enjoyed watching Tennis, The Closer, NCIS, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD on television. Sherri was a diligent and loving care-giver for her father until she was hospitalized on October 18, 2022. Her favorite quote, “Let Go and Let God.”

Sherri was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth A. Patterson, and her best friend, Beryl Jernigan Hughes. She is survived by her Father, Richard J. Patterson Sr., and siblings Richelle A. Harmon, R. Jerome Patterson, Susan L. Patterson, Frederick D. Patterson, and Michael D. Patterson, Sr. (Cleo) and an uncle Joseph Hunter, Sr. Not having children of her own, Sherri truly loved and treated her nephews and nieces as if they were her own: Derrick Sr. (Kalinda), Marcus, Michael Jr., Faith, Janetta, Anya, Derrick Jr., Bryson, Karsen, and Aleah. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of beloved family and friends.
