Kirt Lamont Gibbs was the eighth child of nine children, born on April 3, 1963, in Folkston, Ga. to Nathaniel and Lou Anne Gibbs. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined St. Matthews Baptist Church. Kirt received his education in the Charlton County School System and played many sports including football, basketball and track and field. He also enjoyed fishing, painting, and whistling. Later in life, he became a very skillful chess player, as well.

Kirt passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, after succumbing to diabetes, as he was being cared for at Southern Regional Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Lou Anne Gibbs; two sisters, Shirley Gibbs and Phyllis "Tina" Sims; his brother, Nathaniel Gibbs, Jr.

He leaves to mourn: his ex-wife of 18 years, Ida Gibbs of Tifton, Ga.; one daughter, Brittany Gibbs, Brunswick, Ga.; two grandchildren, Braylen M. Gibbs and Bailey M. Rowe, Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, Earl (Mary) Gibbs of Folkston, Ga., Calvin "Dale" (Kim) Gibbs of Orange Park, Fl. and Danny Gibbs of Folkston, Ga; two sisters: Carolyn (Ronald) of Hampton, Ga. and Angela Arrington of Fayetteville, Ga.; five aunts: Layette Bryant, Jacksonville, Fl., Gloria (Nick) Nicholson of Lacy, WA., Bessie (Karl) Robinson of Stafford, Va., Minnie (Henry) Benefield and Celia Maynor all of Folkston, Ga.; two uncles, Richard (Wanda) Smith, Jacksonville, Fl., and Wilbur Smith of Folkston, Ga.; brother in-law, Brenell Sims of Folkston, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 05, 2022 @ 11:00 am at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 116 6th street, Folkston, Ga. 31537
