June 15, 1941 – November 1, 2022



It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother and Nana, Gayle McCulloch (nee McQueen), who passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022 at the Hospice at Glengarda in Saskatoon, SK following a brief illness with cancer. She was born on June 15, 1941 in Eston, SK, to Thomasena Rudiger and Charles McQueen.


Gayle is predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Jerry McCulloch of Climax, SK. They were married in Dodsland, SK on September 9, 1961. She is also predeceased by her parents, Ena Rudiger (Lee) and Charlie McQueen (Connie Shankland); parents-in-law, Cam and Ruby McCulloch; grandmother-in-law, Hannah Hunt; sister, Sarah Anderson (John); brother, Thomas McQueen; step-brother, Mervin Shankland; stepbrother-in-law, Neil Corbett; and a nephew.


Gayle is lovingly remembered by her children, Kelly Peacock (Donnie) of Swift Current, SK; Michelle McCulloch of Saskatoon, SK; and Randy McCulloch (Lucinda) of Herbert, SK; her grandchildren, Claire Peacock (Shawn); Jill Peacock; Kirk McCulloch; Ryan McCulloch; and Gavin McCulloch. She is also survived by her brother, Bill McQueen (Dorothy); sister-in-law, Lois McQueen; step-brother, Harvey Shankland (Ruth); step-sister, Eunice Corbett; stepsister-in-law, Gerri Shankland; as well as nieces and nephews.


Gayle attended school in Druid and Dodsland, SK and graduated from high school in 1959. She then attended Teacher’s College in Saskatoon and upon graduation, moved to Climax, SK where she taught at the Climax School for her entire career. She touched many children’s lives with her passion for developing and growing young minds through her hands-on and playful teaching approach. She was also a gifted musician who had the ability to play piano by ear plus sing. She blessed many people by playing in bands and countless jam sessions over the years. She was delighted to record a CD in 2006.


Gayle lived life to the fullest by spending time with family and friends. Many people remember her fondly for her joyful personality and welcoming demeanor. Her door was always open to everyone and the coffee was always on. She spent many hours involved in her community such as volunteering at the skating rink, curling rink, swimming pool, July 1st Sports Day, as well as being a member of the Orange Lodge Benevolent Society, Climax United Church, and the South Line Senior Citizens Organization. Most recently she contributed to the development of the Climax Tribute Boards in the Memorial Park. She also loved to participate in many activities such as riding horses, curling, bowling, golfing, dancing, swimming, playing cards, washoes, board games, painting, and building puzzles. You name it, she loved it! She was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel extensively and went south to Yuma, AZ for several winters where she made many life-long friendships.


The funeral service will be held at the Climax United Church, Climax, SK on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Minister Connie Sykes officiating; Organist: Dee Dean; Eulogist: Jill Peacock; Special Tribute: Donnie Peacock; Special Music: Maureen Nelson/Cory Miller; and Urn Bearer: Randy McCulloch. Inurnment to follow at the Climax Cemetery. Immediately following the Inurnment, relatives and friends are invited to meet for a time of fellowship in the Climax Community Hall.
