Carole Freeman Spremich Obituary

Carole Freeman Spremich passed away on October 30, 2022 at home with her family. Carole was born in Neely, Mississippi on November 3, 1937 to Lowren Edward and Ella Walley Freeman. Her mom and younger brother were killed in a house fire when she was three and she and her dad went to live with her grandmother, Caroline Freeman. She grew up playing with her cousins and playing piano for the church. She graduated from Leaksville High School in Leaksville, Mississippi and went to Ole Miss. During college, she worked at the local pharmacy in Oxford, Mississippi and worked at Medical Arts in Mobile during the summers. She was one of the first females to graduate from Ole Miss Pharmacy School in 1957. After graduation, she moved back to Mobile and began her pharmacy career at Belles Hess. She met Edward Peter Spremich (Ed), in 1962, they married and had their only daughter, Kimberly Ann (Kim). She worked in various pharmacies over the years. In 1982, she purchased Springhill Prescriptions. She operated it for over 10 years after which it was purchased by CVS. Carole’s pharmacy career lasted 51 years and she impacted the lives of many Mobilians. She volunteered for Ozanam Pharmacy and was a member of a local mystic society. She enjoyed helping others and was especially proud of her grandsons John Gowan Lenaghan, Jr. (Jack) and Willem O’Neill Lenaghan of Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Douglas Edward Freeman and is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ann Lenaghan, son in law John “Gowan” Lenaghan, grandsons Jack and Willem, brother Phillip Edward (Sue) Freeman and sister Suzanne Freeman (Steve) Ferrer, and caregivers Alethia Pedreza, Arleen Ott, Kim Vacik, Renee Cooper, Tia Bettis, Tasha Knight, Pat Harrison and Johnnie Jackson. A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1453 Old Shell Road, Mobile, Alabama and a reception will be held after Mass at the Sisters of Mercy building across the street on the St. Mary campus. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Ozanam Pharmacy or St. Mary Catholic School, Mobile, Alabama.
