Joan J. Lolla Obituary

Joan J. Lolla, age 75, of Maple Glen, PA, died peacefully at her daughter's home on Monday, October 31, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Erie, PA, Joan was the daughter of the late Elmer and Carolyn (nee Rotell) Perry. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond S. Lolla, in 2018. The couple happily shared over 50 years of marriage together.

Joan was born and raised in Erie, PA, until age 14, then moved with family to Farrell, PA. Joan graduated from Farrell High School in 1965 and then Cosmetology School in 1966. She worked in her mother's salon, Perry house of Beauty, for several years, where Joan was extremely busy and well respected for her talents. In 1969 Joan paused her professional career to focus on being a loving mother to her firstborn daughter, Rayna Lolla, of Doylestown, PA. Joan's second daughter, Monet Kristel and her husband John of Allentown, PA, soon followed in 1972.

Joan was a devoted mother, hosting fun birthday parties, teaching cooking classes at her daughter's school, and attending PTO meetings. In 1978, Joan received her associate's degree and began teaching at Corben Institute. She left in 1985 to become the Director of Tri City Barber School in Philadelphia and then became the Director of Gordon Philips Beauty School, Norristown, PA. After 10 years of being Director, Joan pivoted her career and opened her own salon called Bella Pella until retirement. In 1999, Joan retired to focus all her love and attention to her 6 grandchildren: Roman vai Smith (23), Rory Dean Smith (22), Maxwell John Kristel (20), Alexander Raymond Kristel (17), Rella Joan Smith (14), and Anna Monet Kristel (13).

Joan was a devoted Nona to her grandchildren's lives. She did whatever she could to make holidays, birthdays, and every day special. Joan also enjoyed traveling, hosting multiple holidays annually, and many dinners for all her dear friends through the years.

Joan is survived by her brother Robert E. Mirizio and his wife Judy (nee Hurst) of Cortland, Ohio. Nieces Lisa M. Gerson and her husband Greg Gershon of Trinity, FL, Lisa Fitzgerald of Delaware, and Jaclyn Shea and her husband Chris of Pittsburgh, PA.

Family and friends are invited to call after 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA. Joan's Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Msgr. Brian P. Hennessy as the celebrant.
