Avis G. Bartley

Avis G. Bartley, 93, of Springfield Twp., formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday October 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, at The Lutheran Village of Wolf Creek. Born January 21, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio to Earl and Alice (Hall) Weaver.

Mrs. Bartley was a graduate of Libbey High School and the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. Avis enthusiastically loved her 30 year career as a preschool teacher at Reformation Parent Co-op Nursery School. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, now called Faith United Lutheran Church, after a merger. She was very involved at church with Lutheran Relief Quilts, organizing funeral dinners, the Prayer Chain, as well as teaching preschool classes in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Bartley was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was also a member of the National Association for Education of Young Children.

Avis was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Bartley, in 2004. Surviving are her daughter, Andrea (Rick) Baker, sons, Craig (Cindy) Bartley, Mark (B.J.) Bartley, sisters, Edie Scott, Janice Hutchinson, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Road on Friday, November 4, 2022, after 10 a.m. where services will be held at 12 noon. A private inurnment will take place on a later date at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
